Business Registration Fee 2023/24 Adjustment

According to The 2023/24 Budget released on February 22, Financial Secretary Paul Chan Mo-po did not mention the measures to waive business registration fee (BR fee). Therefore, the business registration certificate fee will be adjusted, and the total payment consist of fee and levy for the 1-year BR certificate will be restored to HK$2,150.

In reference to The 2022/23 Budget, it waived the one-year business registration certificate fee to HK$0, and The Business Registration Ordinance (Amendment of Schedule 2) Order 2022 has decreased the levy of the one-year business registration certificate to HK$150. In other words, as long as you incorporate a company before The 2023/24 Budget comes into effect (that is, before March 31, 2023), the total fee for applying for a one-year business registration certificate is still HK$150. Starting from April 1 this year, HK$2,150 is required to complete the same procedures.

Any form of business in Hong Kong must hold a business registration certificate. The fee is divided into "registration fee" and "levy". From April 1, 2023, the total fee for the 1-year business registration certificate is “registration fee HK$2,000 + levy HK$150 = total HK$2,150”, the total fee for the 3-year certificate is “registration fee HK$5,200 + levy HK$450 = total HK$5,650”.

So, people who plan to incorporate a company really should seize the opportunity and apply for a BR certificate at the best price before deadline!
